General Dentistry

The practice of dentistry encompasses an amazing array of services and procedures, all with a common goal: to help you to preserve your natural teeth as long as possible, ensure your oral health, and keep you looking and feeling great throughout life.

At Eramosa Dental, our main goal is to provide you with a vast array of services that will ultimately allow you to improve and maintain your oral health, giving you a clean, bright, and natural smile that you can be proud of for the rest of your life.

We, at Eramosa Dental, wholeheartedly believe that prevention is key: there are many oral diseases, such as caries and periodontitis, that can be prevented simply by maintaining good oral hygiene and keeping up with your regular dental visits. However, when dental issues do arise, we are here to help. At Eramosa Dental, we offer a wide range of general dental services and procedures that will help rectify the situation. Whether it is pain, difficulty chewing, missing teeth, or an imperfect smile, we will be able to help!

The first step to a healthy mouth is a complete dental examination to assess your overall dental health and rule out the presence of any underlying diseases. From there, we can propose an individualized treatment plan that is consistent with your wants and needs, in order to bring you the smile that you deserve.

Cosmetic & General Dentistry Procedures

At Eramosa Dental, we are pleased offer the following services and procedures

  • Dental Cleanings and Oral Exams: Regular dental cleanings will assist you in the removal of stubborn plaque, calculus, and tartar deposits, which will allow for the maintenance of healthy gums and teeth. Regular check-ups by the dentist will allow us to catch and detect any early signs of dental disease, and treat them accordingly.
  • Sealants: Dental sealants can be placed on the deep grooves of your teeth to prevent the formation of cavities. They are especially beneficial for newly erupted adult teeth in children, as they will protect and prevent these teeth from developing decay in the deep pits and fissures.
  • Dental Fillings: If there is evidence of tooth decay, dental fillings can be placed to restore these teeth. Nowadays, composite tooth-coloured fillings are placed to improve both the function and the esthetics of the tooth.
  • Root Canals: If a tooth is infected, a root canal procedure can be performed to remove pain and infection and save the tooth.
  • Extractions: If a tooth is determined to be hopeless and cannot be saved, an extraction may be required.
  • Laughing Gas/Sedation: At Eramosa Dental, we understand that dental visits and dental procedures can be a frightening experience. Thus, we offer laughing gas for our more anxious patients, in order to reduce their anxiety and make the experience as pleasant as possible.
  • Crowns: If a significant portion of tooth structure has been repaired, or if the tooth is root canal treated, the tooth is at an increased risk of fracture. A crown can help protect the tooth in this case
  • Missing teeth: Numerous options are available for replacing missing teeth to improve function and/or esthetics. These options include dental implants, bridges, and dentures. Our dental team will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment option, and come up with the option that is best suited for you.
  • Braces: If you are unhappy about the alignment of your teeth, orthodontic treatment could help straighten your teeth to give you the perfect smile! Traditional braces involve using metal brackets and wires, whereas Invisalign uses invisible trays to move teeth! Again, our dental team will assess your teeth and recommend the treatment option that is best suited for you.
  • Oral Cancer Screening: Oral cancer is a highly dangerous disease that can progress quickly and become life threatening if left untreated. For treatment, early detection is key: an oral cancer screening can be performed by the dentist to detect early signs of cancer, which will allow for earlier treatment.
  • Cosmetic Bonding: If you have any imperfections in your front teeth, cosmetic bonding may be the answer for you. Cosmetic bonding can be done on front teeth to repair small cracks or chips, correct mild crowding/spacing, and even cover up badly stained teeth!
  • Teeth Whitening: If your teeth are discoloured, stained, or faded, you may benefit from the results of teeth whitening treatment. Teeth whitening products utilize specially calibrated bleach formulations to remove superficial stains, thus achieving a brighter, more vibrant smile. Both in-office and take-home kits are available, depending on your needs.
  • Temporomandibular disorder (TMD): if you have consistent pain and/or soreness in the jaw area, it may be a sign of TMD. If left untreated, TMD may lead to headaches, limited mouth opening, and difficulty with chewing and biting. As TMD can be complex, treatment can include modalities such as rest, massage and muscle relaxation techniques, range-of-motion and strengthening exercises, and/or oral appliances such as night guards.

How often should you visit the dentist?

Did you know that many oral health problems, such as tooth decay and gum disease, can be prevented? Many people only visit the dentist when they are in pain or feel that something is wrong. However, regular dental visits will not only allow you to stay on top of problems like plaque buildup and gum disease, but will also allow things like tooth decay and oral cancer to be detected and treated in a timely manner! This is why we recommend everyone to visit their dentist at least once or twice a year! Regular check-up and cleaning visits will ensure that your teeth and gums are free of bacteria, as well as examined for any suspicious signs of disease.

Smile Makeover

Would you like to beautify your smile? Is there anything you don’t like about your teeth? At Eramosa Dental, we can help! As every treatment plan is individualized to suit the patient’s individual needs, you will be the most important member of the smile makeover team!

A few points to consider before your smile makeover:

  1. What do you currently like about your teeth? For example: colour, size, shape, alignment, etc. For the features that you are pleased with and would like to keep, it would be extremely beneficial if that could be communicated to the dental team. Any previous photos of your ideal smile would help tremendously as well.
  2. What do you currently dislike about your teeth? Again, it would be beneficial if the features that are disliked could be expressed, as these are the features that would most likely be corrected/changed.
  3. Assess your smile in a variety of different angles, and with different levels of opening. This would allow us to see your smile in different angles, and assess things like how much gums are showing when you smile, etc.
  4. Brainstorm the ideal smile you like. Although everyone loves the “Hollywood Smile”, please keep in mind that most of the time, it is the natural look that is the most aesthetic, and does not appear “fake”.

When all these points are considered, the dental team will come up with an individualized treatment plan to give you the stunning smile that you deserve!
